What If I’ve Never Played Lacrosse?
While it’s great if you have Lacrosse experience, it’s not necessary! We’ll teach you the basics of playing girls lacrosse and help you rapidly improve your Lacrosse IQ. You’ll learn to catch, throw, scoop, and cradle in no time!
What About Equipment?
You don’t need to worry about buying a stick or goggles to get started, We’ll take care of those pieces of equipment. We will provide you a stick to use during your first year and we’ll provide your goggles as part of your uniform. Yes, we also provide your game uniform and your practice pinnie/jersey as part of your spring dues.
What Will I Need to Start Practicing?
- USA Lacrosse Membership – You are going to need a High School level USA Lacrosse Membership ($35.00) for the player.
- All Eagles Lacrosse players are required to be members of USA LACROSSE to supplement personal insurance policies. OUR LEAGUE (MGLL) and ALL TOURNAMENTS REQUIRE THAT ATHLETES HAVE THIS COVERAGE.
- You must renew your membership annually. We will check memberships prior to each season.
- To become a US Lacrosse Member, visit the USA Lacrosse Membership page
- Mouth Guard – You will need a mouth-guard, this is required by the Lacrosse Rulebook.
- The mouth-gaurd cannot be white or clear, it cannot have “teeth” graphics on it and it cannot have protruding tabs (meaning, it can’t be the kind that would attach to a football helmet) – We usually recommend
- Lacrosse Shoes/Cleats – You will need Lacrosse or Soccer cleats.
- We recommend Lacrosse specific shoes, we also understand starting a new sport brings a lot of challenges. So, if you want to use soccer shoes, that is perfectly acceptable.

What’s Expected of me?
Commitment
It is CRUCIAL that all players demonstrate commitment not only to Omaha Eagles Lacrosse, but also to their individual development and growth by attending all training sessions and games in season. It is required that the player use TeamSnap and update their availability for all team related activities.
All players (middle school, high school) are expected to attend ALL practices. While Eagles Lacrosse HIGHLY encourages dual-sport and multi-activity participation, it is the player’s responsibility to be committed to the program and communicate in advance if a conflict should arise.
Injury or Illness
If a player is physically unable to participate in practice to due to injury or illness, she will be excused. However, it is the expectation that the player attend practice while unable to play due to injury, provided that attendance does not risk further injury to the player/adversely affect recovery from the injury, it is also expected that the player avoid exposing other players to a contagious illness. Players should notify Coaches about her injury or illness as soon as possible, using TeamSnap availability and notes.
